30th anniversary of Australian Teo Chew Association

A wonderful celebration of the Australian Teo Chew Association’s 30th anniversary, held in Sydney a few weeks ago. Attended by various respected Chinese community leaders as well as politicians, including the His Excellency Consul General Gu Xiaojie, from the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Sydney; NSW Minister for Multiculturalism, the Hon. Ray Williams MP; and NSW Legislative Council member, the Hon. Mark Coure MLC, over 400 guests enjoyed a celebratory banquet, which also featured cultural performances. Master Wang especially flew to Sydney to congratulate Frank Chou OAM, the founding president of the Association, as well as their current board and committee members, on their spirited and longstanding committed efforts in the promotion of Chinese culture among the western society. In the words of the Consul-General: “there has never been a more important time to strengthen the ties between Australia and China”. In particular, this year is a very significant year for the Sino-Australia relationship and one worth celebrating, as it is the 200th anniversary of China migration to the country.
