Reconciliation Week breakfast

A very enlightening morning at the National Reconciliation Week breakfast, held at Blundstone Arena Function Centre on 28 May 2018.

The event included a keynote speech by Mick Gooda, who is an Indigenous Australian of the Gangulu people in central Queensland. In 2009, he was appointed the Australian Human Rights Commission’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner.

The event was well attended by many community leaders as well as local and state politicians, including Professor the Honourable Kate Warner AC, Governor of Tasmania; The Hon. Will Hodgman MP, Premier of Tasmania; The Hon. Rebecca White MP, Leader of the Opposition; The Hon. Cassy O’Conner, Leader of The Greens; and The Right Honourable the Lord Mayor of Hobart, Alderman Ron Christie.

Organised by Reconciliation Australia, Reconciliation Week promotes and invites Australians to learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories, and to share that knowledge and help us grow as a nation.
