VALE The Hon. Sir Guy Green

In recent reflections on the causes and conditions that brought me into contact with the Honourable Sir Guy Green, my heart has been filled with deep emotion and profound respect. As the first Tasmanian-born Governor in history, his life stood as a shining example of public service and the pursuit of justice.

The Honourable Sir Guy Green was personable, selfless, and unassuming despite his distinguished status. He honoured all faiths and cultural backgrounds, holding no bias toward any ethnic group or religion. Among the many political figures I have encountered, he was one of the least prejudiced—free of religious or racial discrimination. He regarded cultural diversity as a societal treasure, saw all people as equals, and actively supported religious freedom and cultural coexistence.

I have been blessed with many precious opportunities to engage and interact with him. He was consistently kind and courteous, possessing a heart as humble and open as a great valley. Whether speaking with members of the sangha, community leaders, or everyday citizens, he treated everyone with the same sincerity and attentiveness. Beyond his leadership in law and politics, he embodied moral integrity and the very spirit of civilisation.

In our present age—marked by cultural diversity and growing interconnection—his legacy is a powerful example for us all. He built vital bridges between religion and government, and generously offered his understanding and encouragement to the Dharma dissemination efforts of Holy Tantra Esoteric Buddhism in Tasmania.

Now, with a heart full of sorrow, I offer my salutations from afar to the Dharma realm. May the Honourable Sir Guy Green rest peacefully in the realm of radiant light and purity.

May his virtuous deeds live on in this world, inspiring generations to come.

May he return to us soon.

With deepest gratitude and palms joined,

Respectfully,

Bhagavan Zhi-Ji Vimalakirti
